Wanna know more about me?

Pronounced "LAW-ren HOY-er"

Sun & Moon Sagittarius with Cancer Ascending

My true passion is realism with a twist. I love creating semi-realistic paintings of animals and nature that just pop against the wood grains and stained canvases. I create canvas paintings in sizes as small as 6x6 inches and up, catering to a variety of spaces and preferences.

I am now a full-time artist with Etsy.com, where I continue to explore and expand my creative boundaries. Previously, I worked as a Graphic Artist for Giant Eagle Market District and served as a contracted Pet Portrait Artist for Chewy.com. My professional journey has been enriched by these diverse experiences, allowing me to develop a unique artistic style.

I graduated from Kent State University in Ohio with a Major in Art Education and a Minor in Fine Art & Education in 2012. This academic background has provided me with a solid foundation in both the technical and creative aspects of art.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of notable projects. I designed the cover of the Market District December 2013 Newsletter for all their stores in PA & OH and created the logo for the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Teaching English in Poland by the Kosciuszko Foundation.

In the summer of 2019, I was honored to be one of the artists selected to design a large dancing bear for the “Mentor Rocks the Bear” competition. I chose to paint my bear with the constellation of Ursa Major, the Great She Bear. This project was a great experience and lots of fun to paint. My bear was proudly displayed at the Local Mentor Library and was later auctioned off to raise money for the City of Mentor. Ursa Major is currently living on my porch. My mother loved it so much she won it in the auction and gave it back to me as a housewarming gift. I have the best mother ever and the coolest porch sculpture on my street.

Additionally, I have artwork displayed in my hometown of Willoughby, showcased on two electrical boxes throughout the city. This public art initiative has been a wonderful way to connect with the local community and share my art with a broader audience.

RANDOM FACT: My cats are my world. Marilyn Emma (Mare Mare) is my gentle strawberry blonde baby girl with a raspy voice of an angel. Romeo Jackson (Pony Boy) is my spotted giant (18lb) who can say the words, cup, cow and hello and can only be held on the left shoulder. New Kitten, Beatrice Wren, is a dilute torbie with the most damning tiny voice and loves to try to ride the other cats like a cowboy.
